WHAT IS THE BUSINESS BETWEEN BABA AND CHARLY BOY?

What on earth could have brought together a former president in the mould of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and His Royal Punkness, a weird entertainer such as Charly Boy Oputa? Obasanjo has never been known as a man who has any sort of soft spot for the entertainment industry or the people in it and neither is Charly Boy known as a man who has a cheerful disposition towards politics.

Though as disparaging as the paths these two different personalities walk situation has brought them together in more than one occasion. Even recently, October of this year to be precise, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was one of the special dignitaries that graced the birthday bash of Charly Boy’s father, Justice Chukwudi Oputa in Abuja but that would not be saying it was Charly Boy who invited the former president.

The president by all indication graced that occasion in sheer recognition of the father, a man who has become a colossus in the legal landscape of the country.

That the president even recognised the personality of the son at the party, saying what impressed him most was the image of Charly Boy outside as a weird entertainer but at home, he is a humble man who takes care of his parents is not enough to justify there is any close acquaintance between the two opposite figures.

So the question on the lips of everyone since Charly Boy was caught visiting the former president at his Abeokuta recently has been what does the entertainer want with the former president? Is Charly Boy nursing a political ambition? And who could have made the arrangement for the two to meet.

The likely answer is either Charly Boy’s father or Princess Gloria Iweka. Obviously Justice Oputa has such clout to call up the former president while Princess Iweka, former wife of Senator Uche Chukwumerije, who is a close associate of Charly Boy, as part-owner of the Charley Boy Magazine had worked with the former C-in-C as a special assistant and could very had made the arrangement.
