NMVA 2010 fever climaxes …names anchors and performances

After an entertaining nominees party last Sunday at the Crescendo hang out in Lagos, nominees in the Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA) 2010 will today know their fate as the brightest stars get rewarded in a colourful ceremony.

Venue for the event is the New Expo Hall of Eko Hotels, Lagos and already the fever is heightening so much that traffic on the official website of the NMVA increases per second.

“We are sensitive enough to know that voting is not entirely objective and that is why votes will account for only 30 per cent scores while the judges decide the remaining 70 per cent”, explains Cally Ikpe; Chairman Callivision Network- organisers of the NMVA.

This year’s ceremony will be anchored by pretty face model, Titi Adelagun- an OAP with Lagos based radio station, Inspiration FM. She will do the honours together with Israel Edjerene of DBN fame.

The nominees list released last month scored R N B singer Banky W as the Nigerian artiste with the best of music videos. Banky only just won two awards at the last week held SMVA – another music video awards body held in Nigeria. He’s in a tie with choreographer singer, Dipp.

While Chairman of Silverbird Group- Ben Murray Bruce will be inducted into the NMVA Hall of Fame, awards will be given out in 24 categories and nominees include: Goldie, Kefee, FEMI,Nikki Laoye, Bouqui, Solidstar, Kaffy, Bracket, Jay Martins and Essence. Last year was R N B singer Darey’s year as he strut home holding four Annabels ( that’s what NMVA trophies are called). If Banky rules the day tomorrow, he would be the second R N B artiste to dominate the NMVAs.

Performers lined up for today show  include: Ara, Kas, The Choc Boiz, Sound Sultan, Kefee, Dipp, General Pype and the Mo Hits crew.

“Performances will be done live. We have engaged the service of Now Muzik’s band – the Gidi Gorgeous. They backed up 2Face at his classic live September show. We’re not taking chances so already rehearsals are going on.

We expect to have a classy show this year; better than last year’s definitely”, said Cally.

The NMVA – the country’s pioneer music video awards, is in its fourth year and the organisers don’t intend to slow down. Still without a sponsor, the NMVA is overwhelmed with many partners including;  Channel O, Mnet, Africa Magic, Nigezie, Music Africa, Flytime Entertainment, Primetime and a lot more. By 5pm today, the die will cast .
