I’M NOT UNDER PRESSURE TO JOIN ACN, SAYS MIMIKO

Governor Olusegun Mimiko  has said that he is not under any pressure to defect to the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.

He spoke in Akure during an  awards night organised by the state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, where it  conferred the award of the Grand Patron of the union on the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Obateru Akinruntan.

Dr. Mimiko, who spoke through his Information Commissioner Ranti Akerele, said he would remain a loyal and committed member of the LP.

Akerele noted that the governor had been doing everything possible to execute masses-oriented projects in line with the principles and ideology of the party.

He dismissed insinuations that Governors Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State and Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State visited Mimiko recently to convince him to dump the LP for the ACN.

Mr. Ranti also dispelled the rumours “making the rounds that a former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, had a pact with Mimiko during the latter’s judicial battle to reclaim his mandate.”

“It is true that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, supported Mimiko’s quest to reclaim his mandate, there was no agreement or pact between that Governor Mimiko will decamp to the ACN.

Both Governor Mimiko and Asiwaju Tinubu agreed to fight injustice, and illegalities in the nation’s electoral process.

That is the only pact between them. There is nothing that Mimiko will do for his people as a governor of the ACN that he can not do as a leader of the Labour Party. His achievements so far had testified to that fact”
