I’m not dumping music for acting – Nneka Egbuna

Anambra State born music sensation , Nneka Egbuna who recently starred in a feature film, “Relentless’ by a Paris based Nigerian director, Andy Okoroafor has dismissed the fear that she might be  dumping her career in music for  acting.

Nneka, speaking with HVP, at the just concluded maiden edition of the Africa International Film Festival, which held in Port-Harcourt, said she has no intention to go into acting.

She asserted, “ I’m a musician , and therefore,  I do not intend to go into acting.”
Nneka played the female lead in the film, while Gideon Okeke(Tinsel), who was debuting on the big screen played the male lead.

An accomplished and stylish first film by Andy, “Relentless” is a story about loneliness, love and self-discovery set in Lagos and Sierra-Leone. The film recaptures the good, the bad and the ugly that characterises life in the ever bustling city. It also starred  Hatian actor Jimmy Jean Louis (Phat Girlz).

The hip hop and song writer said, the producer who happened to be her friend invited her to a show, where  she was later put on set. The film, which premiered in Europe few months ago was screened at the festival to an elated movie bluffs.

Meanwhile, explaining why he decided to feature Nneka in his production, Andy muted,  “when I was doing the casting, I wanted somebody who is a Nigerian to the core.  That was why I settled for Gideon and Nneka.”

‘Relentless” tells the story of a young Nigerian peacekeeping soldiers Obi,(Gideon Okeke) who whilst on assignment in Sierra Leone meets and fall in love with a local woman who ends up mutilated by rebels. The film charts his life and emotional turmoil as he returns to Nigeria
